Numark Pharmacy hosted a community open day as it took over a pharmacy in Monklands.
The facility on Baillieston Main Street will now be known as Rowlands Pharmacy Baillieston.
The launch, which served as a celebration of, and recommitment to, serving the local community, saw pharmacy delivery driver Allan O’Farrell cut the all-important blue ribbon to welcome in the new era.
Rowlands Pharmacy Baillieston, which is part of Numark Pharmacy, will be run by pharmacist Andrew Cowan, alongside a team of colleagues from the local community.
Delivery driver Allan had the honour of opening the pharmacy bestowed on him as he “has been supporting the community by delivering their prescriptions for over 28 years”.
The branch also made a donation of £250 to Baillieston Community Care who provide high quality person focused service aimed at maintaining individual’s independence within their own homes and the community.
Pharmacist Andrew Cowan said: “It’s been a wonderful morning here at Rowlands Pharmacy Baillieston.
“It was lovely to welcome the community into store and re-cement our commitment to them.

“As community pharmacies we’re a pillar of healthcare for the locality and I look forward to meeting more of the community in the coming weeks.”
Branch delivery driver Allan added: “I had a fantastic time opening the new Numark Pharmacy community open day.
“It was an honour to officially open the doors and welcome customers in.
“Community pharmacies are so important in providing access to healthcare and I’m proud to have supported Numark Pharmacy in providing this much needed facility.”
As part of NHS Pharmacy First Scotland, community pharmacies provide expert advice in treating a range of common conditions from seasonal illnesses such as coughs, colds, sore throats, earache, and hayfever, to common skin conditions including athlete’s foot, acne, eczema, verrucas and warts, along with common clinical conditions such as urinary tract infections (UTIs), threadworms and shingles.
This is in addition to prescription dispensary, vaccination services, over the counter medications, emergency contraception and medication review.
This service aims to help people access the right care in the right place, without having to go to their GP practice or local accident and emergency department for non-urgent treatment and the team were on-hand on the day to discuss the enhanced Pharmacy First Scotland service, answer any questions, and speak to local people.
The new store is on 3-5 Main Street, Baillieston, and will be open on Monday to Friday, from 8.30am to 5.30pm and Saturdays, between 9am and 1pm.
