FORT EISENHOWER, Ga. (WRDW/Gray News) – A man is charged with murder after authorities say he shot a man he found in bed with his ex-girlfriend who is also the mother of his child.

Army National Guard soldier Natravien Landy, 25, allegedly shot the man Saturday morning at a home in Fort Eisenhower in Augusta, Georgia.

The victim, Sgt. Andre S. Stewart Jr. died at a hospital about an hour after being shot in the chest, according to investigators.

Fort Eisenhower gate records show Landry came onto the post around 4:45 a.m., reported for drill duty and was released at 7 a.m., according to investigators.

Landry drove to the on-post home of his child’s mother and got there around 7:15 a.m., according to investigators.

The woman said she was in a romantic relationship with Stewart and Landry was jealous.

She and Stewart were in bed Saturday morning when she said she woke up to a commotion in her bedroom and saw Landry standing near the doorway.

The woman said she walked over to Landry to talk to him and when she turned away, she heard a gunshot, according to investigators.

Witnesses in the home said the woman’s relative had been outside when Landry drove up and asked whose truck was parked there. Landry forced his way in when the relative tried to go back inside, according to investigators.

Another witness said she heard the gunshot and saw the flash in the hallway.

Investigators were told there was a struggle between Landry and one of the witnesses, who stumbled to the floor and fell down the stairs.

One witness said she saw Landry hit Stewart four times with the gun before shooting him and leaving.

Landry allegedly left the post in a Toyota Camry just before Fort Eisenhower went on lockdown at 7:50 a.m.

Investigators said they used surveillance camera sightings and cellphone pings to track down Landry, who was caught south of Atlanta on I-85.

Deputies conducted a felony traffic stop and saw Landry toss a 9mm handgun out the car window, according to authorities.

“Landry admitted to, among other things, shooting Victim,” investigators wrote in a court filing charging Landry with murder.

Landry was transferred to Lincoln County jail, one of several facilities that houses federal inmates.

He is charged with murder and is expected to appear in federal court on Wednesday.
