AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police have identified a teen killed in a shooting in The Domain last Friday.
The Austin Police Department (APD) said on Friday, Dec. 13, at around 1:40 a.m., officers responded to St. David’s North Austin Medical Center after a security guard called and said a man – later identified as 17-year-old Carlos Sotelo – had arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.
When officers arrived at the hospital, they identified the driver who brought Sotelo, who was a witness of the shooting. Sotelo was pronounced dead at around 10:30 a.m. the following morning, Dec. 14.
Police said an investigation into the shooting revealed that Sotelo and others were in a vehicle in the parking garage of the Griffis Apartments, located at 3210 Esperanza Crossing at The Domain, when multiple suspects approached the vehicle and attempted a robbery at gunpoint. When the driver tried to get away, APD said the suspects fired into the vehicle, hitting Sotelo.
