The Simpsons will stop being shown on Channel 4 after an incredible 20 years of being aired on the broadcaster.
The long-running animated series, which made its debut in 1989, will cease airing in its traditional teatime slot of 6:30pm from January 2025 onwards.
However, fans of the cartoon don’t need to panic as new episodes of the show will continue – but they will now be streamed first exclusively on Disney+.
Despite this big change, terrestrial television will still play some Simpsons episodes although they will be a few series behind.
As of next month, E4 will become the only home of the show on linear TV with episodes from season 32 airing on the channel.
These episodes will then be able to stream on Channel 4’s online platform for a limited time after airing before they will be exclusively moved onto Disney+
The streaming platform will begin airing episodes from season 36 in the spring time with every current episode of the show already available to watch along with the hit 2007 film The Simpsons Movie.

“In an evolving market, collaboration has never felt more important, and it’s been a pleasure working with Disney Entertainment to bring the latest seasons to UK viewers, who can now watch the show on E4 and C4 Streaming once it has aired on Disney +.”
Channel 4 unveiled the news today on The Simpsons 35th birthday. The show made its debut on December 17, 1989 with its iconic opening Christmas episode – Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire.
