Passengers are being warned of more disruption after CalMac cancelled sailings from Arran to the mainland.
Recent bad weather has forced the ferry operator to cancel several sailings from Ardrossan and Troon to Brodick with further disruption on sailings from Lochranza to Claonaig/Tarbert and from Largs to Cumbrae.
Continued strong winds today (Wednesday, December 18) mean there will be no sailings between Ardrossan and Brodick at least until a review of the weather at 12.30pm.
A similar situation is in place for sailings between Troon and Brodick with a review to be carried out at 11.30am.
Services from Lochranza to Claonaig/Tarbert and from Largs to Cumbrae are currently operating as scheduled but are listed yellow on CalMac’s website for “possible disruption”.
CalMac have also advised that there will be an amended timetable running tomorrow, Thursday, December 19, between Troon and Brodick to allow for overnight “essential maintenance” to the MV Alfred.
Services will instead depart Troon at 12.45pm and 4.25pm while services from Brodick will depart at 2.35pm and 6.15pm.
Of services between Ardrossan and Brodick, CalMac said: “Due to continuing strong winds the 11.05am departing Brodick and the 12.30pm departing Ardrossan have been cancelled.
“There will be a further review at approx. 12.30pm for remaining sailings.”
For sailings between Troon and Brodick, they added: “Due to adverse weather, the 8.30am sailing from Troon and the 10.20am sailing from Brodick have been cancelled.
“There will be an update at approximately 11.30am regarding later sailings.
“Due to essential maintenance being carried out overnight on Wednesday, December 18 and to carry out sea trials, the following amended timetable will operate: depart Troon – 12.45pm (previously 8.30am), 4.25pm (previously 1.30pm); depart Brodick – 2.35pm (previously 10.20am), 6.15pm (previously 3:20pm).”
Of the route between Largs and Cumbrae, CalMac said: “This service is operating to timetable.
“Sailings remain liable to disruption or cancellation due to strong winds.”
