A body has been found in the search for missing Britain’s Got Talent performer Martyn Crofts.

Reported missing on Monday, police confirmed that a body had been discovered in the Whinny Gill reservoir in Skipton, North Yorkshire, reports the Mirror.

Martyn won over judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on the acclaimed ITV reality show back in 2012 after gaining fame as ‘The Pan Man’. His antics involved singing while donning a Dalek impression from Doctor Who, which earned him a spot in the semi-final round.

Upon the sombre find on December 16, the North Yorkshire Police have stated that whilst the body has not been formally identified yet, Martyn’s family have been notified and are currently receiving support, and say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

His family have expressed gratitude for the public’s assistance and thanked all those who contributed information during the search operation.

Martyn’s fans and the BGT community quickly rallied online to offer their condolences and share supportive messages. A heart-wrenching tribute in particular emerged on Facebook, penned by a close friend who reflected on their time performing together,

The tearful homage described Martyn as not only the memorable ‘The Pan Man’ from Britain’s Got Talent but also as a cherished friend, someone who loved Skipton and left an indelible impression with his fantastic Dalek impersonation.

The spokesperson added: “At this stage, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The family also thanked everyone for their help in the search and those who provided information to assist the enquiries.

Fans of Martyn’s and BGT were quick to share messages of support and condolence following the news. One user who was a friend of Martyn’s posted a heartfelt tribute on Facebook. In it, they reminisced on their time together as entertainers.

The heartfelt tribute read: “RIP… He loved Skipton And he did a great Dalek impression. You may know him as ‘The Pan Man’ from Britain’s Got Talent, but Martyn Crofts was our friend.”

Tributes poured in for Martyn Crofts, with one friend writing: “Sadly, he was found in Skipton reservoir today, after going missing yesterday. He will be a miss. Rest in peace my friend.”

Another friend posted: “Martyn Crofts where do I begin, you were a light in everyone’s life! You were the soul and party in Fleece! From a local lad working at SBS to being ‘Pan man’ and getting all the way to the semi-finals!

“If someone were to ask me how I would describe you, the phrase ‘You light up the room with your smile. And illuminate the world with your heart’ comes to mind, a lot of people know you from being on BGT, but to me and everyone else in Skipton you’ll always be Martyn Crofts, rest easy up there mate!”

Martyn had found fame after auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent as a Dalek impersonator, with judges Alesha and Amanda loving his act, but Simon Cowell labelling it “arguably the most stupid act I’ve ever seen on this show”. Despite this, Martyn went on to have a successful career, winning Search for a Star and performing at residential homes, DJ’ing at clubs and pubs and hosting karaoke contests across the UK.
