Four people were seriously injured after an accident which closed a Dumfries and Galloway road for 11 hours.

Three vehicles collided on the A745 near Allanbank Farm on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene with four people taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The A745 Castle Douglas to Dalbeattie road was closed for around 11 hours after the accident, which involved a white Fiat Multijet van, a red Peugeot 207 and a brown Honda CR-V.

Police Constable Maxwell of Castle Douglas road policing said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the collision, and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have been travelling on that stretch of road at that time to check any dashcam footage and contact us in order to aid our investigation.”

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police on 101 quoting reference 2207 of December 17.”
