Gavin & Stacey’s Ruth Jones has revealed the one thing that she ‘couldn’t bear’ as she opens up on her relationship with co-star James Corden.

Speaking to Jessie and Lennie Ware on the Table Manners podcast, Ruth and James gave fans an insight into what they could expect from the final episode of Gavin & Stacey when it airs on Christmas Day.

James was questioned on whether his and Ruth’s characters could be set for their own spin-off show: “We don’t know if we have another idea in us but I can honestly say that if we didn’t attempt to try and even explore the idea of writing together then I’d be so disappointed.”

But, as Ruth responded, she cheekily quipped “I couldn’t bear it,” before adding “I love being in the room with James, it’s so fun,” reports Wales Online.

With the shows finale hotly anticipated, James dropped a major hint as to what fans can expect when the show airs on Christmas day: “It’s one of the best pieces of acting what Ruth did with that character. Nessa has had this unbelievable checkered life and you find out more about that in this special — some really fun bits that we wrote.”

The last time that we saw the co-stars take to the screen was five years ago when Nessa got down on one knee to propose to Smithy in an emotional ending to the show, and now, Ruth has shared her feelings on the iconic moment: “The reason I feel it’s so emotional is because me and James have been on this journey for a long time.

She added: “We’ve known each other since 2000 doing Fat Friends and because Gavin and Stacey has been such a massive part of our lives and that was going to be the last episode — we filmed that scene in the middle of night as we were filming during summertime but it was set at Christmas so it had to be dark.”

Gavin and Stacey: The Finale will air at 9pm on Christmas Day on BBC One.
