John Fury will NOT be in Tyson’s corner when he takes on Oleksandr Usyk this weekend.
Both fighters took part in a media workout in Riyadh on Wednesday night ahead of the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC and WBO Undisputed World Heavyweight Title fights. But the Gypsy King’s father is nowhere to be seen. Fury Sr has come for criticism across the boxing world, including by his own brother, for the advice he gave to Fury during his defeat by Usyk in May. The two put on one of the better heavyweight fights of recent memory over 12 tightly contested rounds. After the final blow landed, the judges awarded the split decision to Usyk, making the Ukrainian the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield in 1999.
Fury Sr has not commented on the fight since and has not been in Saudi Arabia this week. But head trainer SugarHill Steward revealed that John will not be present for the hotly-anticipated bout in the Kingdom Arena on December 21, which will be watched by millions all over the world.
He said: ” Tyson Fury is just ready right now, along with myself. He has always had a silly demeanour, and playing around but this is a different side of him. He is 100 per cent ready.” Asked on who will be in his corner, he added: “Just myself, Andy Lee and the cut man, pretty much that’s it.
According to AI the match has a clear winner. Tyson Fury is expected to knock out Oleksandr Usyk in the fourth round of their rematch come December 21.
