Marcus Rashford has not travelled with the Manchester United squad for their game against Tottenham.
Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were omitted from the matchday squad for the 2-1 victory at Manchester City on Sunday where Amad Diallo grabbed a late winner. Both were ordered to train at the club’s Carrington training complex on the morning of the game with manager Ruben Amorim questioning their conduct both in training and around the football club.
Since then a bombshell interview with journalist Henry Winter was released where Rashford detailed his desire to leave the club he rose through the youth ranks with. Asked about Rashford on Wednesday, manager Ruben Amorim said: “This is in the future. My focus is to have all the players in the best that they can be to prepare for each game. We are talking about if there is no if in this kind of club. It’s just talk to them and let’s focus on the game.”
And he has not gone down to London with the rest of his team on Wednesday for the Carabao Cup quarter-final tie on Thursday against Tottenham Hotspur. Garnacho, meanwhile, has travelled down for the game. Rashford was also absent from training on Monday, with reports claiming he was sent home due to a sickness bug. The 27-year-old, who has clocked more than 400 appearances for the club, visited his old school on Tuesday to hand out presents to all its 420 students.
