Senior CNN political analyst Gloria Borger will leave the network after 17 years.

CNN confirmed the 72-year-old’s departure, according to Deadline. The New Rochelle native has been with the network since 2007, appearing on programs including “AC360” and “The Situation Room.”

Prior to CNN, Borger worked for CBS News where she contributed to “Face the Nation” and “60 Minutes.”

There’s been no word on her future plans or whether she’ll be replaced. CNN has not returned a request for comment.

Borger’s exit comes on the heels of political commentator Alisyn Camerota signing off last week after a decade with CNN.

The cable news outlet, along with liberal-leaning MSNBC, has struggled with falling ratings since Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election. Fox News has since dominated the race for cable news supremacy, according to Mediaite. CNN’s primetime ratings have reportedly dropped 45%.

Borger has been supportive of her colleagues and changes at CNN in recent weeks. On Nov. 26, she used social media to congratulate Kaitlan Collins on becoming the network’s chief White House correspondent. The following day, she celebrated legal reporter Katelyn Polantz’s promotion to correspondent.

Borger wasn’t spending a lot of time at CNN prior to her departure, but she remains supportive of the outlet.

“My first order of business is to spend time ungoverned by a TV schedule,” she told the Daily Beast in a statement. “I’ll always be watching and cheering for CNN.”
