Scots residents have returned to their homes after a gas leak in Glasgow prompted an evacuation.
Locals on Abbotsford Place in Cathcart were asked to leave their properties after reports of a gas leak on December 18. The Scottish Gas Network later confirmed the incident is over after they capped the gas at some affected properties.
Spokesperson, Bradley Barlow, for the SGN said: “Earlier today, we attended Abbotsford Place in Glasgow at the request of the emergency services.
“As a precaution, the local fire service evacuated residents and we capped the gas at some properties. Residents have since returned to their properties. We can confirm there is no issue with our gas network in the local area.”
An earlier statement from Police Scotland reads: “Abbotsford Place in the Cathcart area of the city is closed following a report of a suspected gas leak at a flat. Emergency services are in attendance and people have been evacuated from neighbouring properties.
“The public is asked to avoid the area while gas engineers work to resolve the issue.”
