Scottish travellers heading to Tenerife are being urged to change their plans by a travel adviser online.
TikTok user Larisa, who calls herself @butlarii, has said she cannot understand why crowds of people head to the south of Tenerife and insisted the north of the Canary Island is much better.
Sharing a clip on social media, Larissa makes her argument for her favourite part of the island. She believes it’s far more relaxed without the rowdiness and party vibes of the south of the island.
In the short video, she said: “Everyone visits Tenerife South for the party/beach vibe and have no idea Tenerife North looks like this.”
She shows some stunning shots of deserted beaches and lush forests coupled with mountainous coasts and quiet roads, reports the Mirror.
The towns also look much quieter in the north of Tenerife. There are fewer people occupying its streets and attractions and the location appears much more chilled than party sites in the south.
A fellow poster responded: “The north side of the island is a little cooler. It’s less let’s get messy and more let’s do things an explore.” Other people came back to the woman about her post and with their own recommendations. One suggested going to check out a few beaches and a national park. She said: “You have to go to the beach just next to Santa Cruz – Las Terisitas. Also visit the Anaga National Park and these 2 beaches Roques De La Bodega and Benijio.”
Among the cities in the north of Tenerife are Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the areas of La Laguna, Puerto de la Cruz, Icod de Los Vinos, Los Reyes, Garachico and San Juan de la Rambla. These desinations are not as well known as those in the south of Tenerife but could be less touristy and give more insight into the life of local people.
Other people on Trip Advisor agreed about the location which they found good for families. One poster described Playa de la Las Terisitas as the best beach in the north of Tenerife.
They said: “It is a very large beach with African Saharan sand, but we choose to sit at the sunset on the volcanic black warm rocks. You find here restroom facilities, few changing rooms, sunbeds from 2.5 (late autumn) to 6 euros.
“Wonderful views from cliffs in the background, lots of trees, plam trees here and there for shade if you so desire, we found the beach itself was very clean and the water clear. To swim there is very nice and not dangerous, which is very pleasant and safe, especially for kids. The view is great on one side like in advertising pictures, with the Anaga mountains surrounding the beach.”
Another person recommended visiting Valle de la Orotava. The poster said: “It hosts beautiful gardens, great viewpoints and spectacular buildings and in particular balconies. El Balcones is a must to visit.”
