A Scottish cabin that has been described as a “little piece of heaven” can be booked for a last-minute Christmas holiday. With just a week to go until December 25, people all across the country will be running about getting ready for the big day.
While some love the hustle and bustle of the festive season, others would gladly hide away from the chaos for a few days. At the moment, a charming little cabin in the north of the Cairngorms National Park can be booked for £217 per night through Airbnb.
Named Cnoc, which means ‘hill’ in Gaelic, the cabin is located near the parish of Kirkmichael and sleeps up to two guests. Stepping inside Cnoc, the self-catering cabin features a mini kitchen with an electric hob, a microwave, a fridge-freezer, and a kettle and toaster. It is described as a “little piece of heaven in the Highlands” on the Airbnb listing.
Elsewhere, there is a balcony that features a double-ended outdoor bath. There is even an outdoor wood-burning stove, so you can keep cosy as you admire the picturesque views out over the nearby river and beyond.
Cnoc is a “guest favourite” property on Airbnb, with an average rating of 4.98 out of five. It is also in an “unbeatable location” according to the website, meaning 100 per cent of guests in the past year gave the cabin’s location a perfect five-star rating.
One recent visitor wrote: “Amazing retreat, incredible location, great communication. The log fire and bath are truly special. Can’t wait to come back.”
A second shared: “We stayed in the Cnoc cabin for two nights. Paul the host was friendly and helpful from start to finish and everything was as described. Very clean and beautiful surroundings. Would definitely go back!”
A third Airbnb user echoed: “We absolutely loved staying at Cnoc lodge – Paul was very responsive and helpful. The lodge was peaceful and gorgeous – the perfect place to relax!”
However, one guest highlighted a small issue they encountered. Their review reads: “Paul’s house in the woods is very nice – we had a good experience overall. The exterior of the house is perhaps the best thing, very evocative in the evening and the fire is really a welcome plus.
“Keep in mind that the spaces are really tight, so don’t go with lots of suitcases!”
If Cnoc does not appeal but you are keen for a Christmas break, there are plenty of more traditional accommodation options in the area. These include the four-star Whispering Pine Lodge that overlooks Loch Lochy and the boutique Dowans Hotel & Restaurant set in a grand Victorian mansion.
