CAMERON, Mo. (KCTV/Gray News) – A couple was arrested after a hotline tip led investigators to find a toddler had been left alone while they passed out on methamphetamine.
According to records filed by the Clinton County, Missouri, Circuit Court, Sunny Vang, 33, and Lee T. Xiong, 42, of Cameron, are both charged with child endangerment.
A probable cause statement filed by the Cameron Police Department indicated that around 1:25 p.m. on Friday, law enforcement officials were called to Vang and Xiong’s home, with a request for aid from the Missouri Division of Family Services.
According to the complaint, investigators were notified of a hotline tip placed by a local bus driver who reported Xiong had been asleep in the nude as a child sat on his lap. The new tip spurred the visit.
When law enforcement officials arrived, they said they could hear a toddler crying and found the child walking around with no diaper. Vang was found by investigators asleep in the garage. When she woke up, she admitted no one had been watching the child and that she had been under the influence of narcotics.
Investigators noted that Vang reported she left the toddler “alone with a bowl of rice” before she and Xiong passed out for about two hours. Both were tested for narcotics usage and both test results came back positive for methamphetamine.
As of last Sunday, Vang remained behind bars on a $50,000 bond and Xiong, who had been on parole, remained in jail on a $100,000 bond.
