Public safety programs and victims assistance, anti-human trafficking and law enforcement, Gov. Abbott hopes funding strengthens Texas initiatives in 2025.

AUSTIN, Texas — Gov. Greg Abbott announced his Public Safety Office will provide over $500 million in grant funding for a range of programs and services.

“These public safety grants will provide critical funding to strengthen Texas agencies and organizations as they work to secure the border, prevent human trafficking, ensure justice for victims, and protect Texans from dangerous criminals and violence,” Gov. Abbott said on Wednesday in a press release.

Funding is going toward programs such as state crisis intervention, SAFE facilities, Project Safe Neighborhoods, Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce and Crime Stoppers assistance. A complete list, including specific amounts for each program, can be viewed on the governor’s office’s website.

The governor’s Public Safety Office provides state and federal grant initiatives to state and regional agencies, including the 24 regional Councils of Governments in Texas.

Those looking to secure funds to support their public safety programs during the next grant cycle (fiscal year 2026) should reach out to their local Council of Government.
