Arts organisation Impact Arts are looking for unemployed creatives living in North Lanarkshire to take up an exciting opportunity of training, mentoring and work experience, designed to support them on their career journey within the creative industries.
This is open for creative people from all disciplines – visual art, crafts, fashion and textiles, design, performing arts, comedy, music, DJing, photography, film and video, computer games, radio and TV and creative writing.
Create Thrive Enterprise is aimed at residents at the pre-start stage in their business development, who might not otherwise consider entrepreneurship and business start-up within the creative industries, and is especially targeted at those living in areas of deprivation within North Lanarkshire.
Airdrie Town Hall will host the sessions from January 7 until March 28 inclusive, two days a week (Tuesday and Wednesday), with a two-week full-time work placement at the end
Participants will gain an SCQF Level 4 and be supported one-to-one by a mentor and the programme co-ordinator to help them on their way to becoming a freelancer in the creative industries.
During the two training days per week, participants will benefit from tailored training equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to work as a creative freelancer.
They will receive mentoring from an established creative, and at the end of the programme complete two weeks of paid work experience in an organisation that matches their interests.
Participants will also receive a grant at the end of the programme, helping them to purchase equipment or attend further relevant training.
To take part in this programme you must be an adult of working age; currently unemployed; living in a North Lanarkshire postcode; be at an early stage of developing your creative practice; not be enrolled in education; and excited about the opportunity to begin your creative career.
Full details on the programme can be found online.
