Kids at two Lanarkshire primary schools have been given a glimpse of a career in construction.
Pupils at Jackton Primary in East Kilbride and Stepps Primary School took part in Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes’ latest Scotland-wide Christmas competition.
Children designed their very own festive hard hat using inspiration from the local area as well as their own traditions.
Pupils could use any material to decorate – from glitter and paint to tinsel and baubles – with the most festive and creative scooping the top prize.
A group of 17 pupils across primary three to five participated from Jackton Primary in East Kilbride, while 53 children across primary two took part from Stepps.
Jackton’s front runner was nine-year-old Mia Pang while six-year-old Jacob Maher was crowned the champion from Stepps Primary.
The winning designs received a £50 Smyths voucher, while all participants received a chocolate selection box from the housebuilder.
Estelle Sykes, Sales Director at Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes West Scotland, said: “The designs submitted into this year’s Christmas competition have been nothing short of extraordinary.
“It proved to be a fun way to engage the next generation to start thinking about a career construction, as well as tapping into Christmas crafting. A massive congratulations to all those who took part, and hopefully we can inspire more budding builders to try their hand next year.”
Lynsey Stack, Principal Teacher at Jackton Primary, added: “Building dreams, one festive hardhat at a time! The pupils at Jackton Primary were so excited to celebrate the holiday season through creativity and craftsmanship with Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
“We’ve worked with the housebuilder on festive projects in the past and were delighted to be involved again this year. With teamwork and festive spirit, we’ve constructed a Christmas wonder to light up the season.”
Jackton Primary is the local catchment school for Barratt Homes West Scotland’s Jackton Hall development while Stepps Primary is the catchment school for development Earls Rise.
