Maisie Smith posted a heartfelt picture on Instagram, standing by Max George as the The Wanted singer continues his hospital stay after doctors discovered “heart issues” requiring surgery.
In a show of solidarity, the former EastEnders actress uploaded an image holding her boyfriend’s hand, with the caption: “Got to see my wonderful man today. Proud of you @maxgeorge.”
Max reciprocated the affection by resharing the photo on his account, responding: “Thank you baby. I love you so much,” followed by a heart emoji.
Earlier, 36-year-old Max updated fans about his heart condition, explaining the need for a potential pacemaker and revealing that surgery might happen sooner than expected. Posting a pre-scan photo, he wrote: “Had a little day trip today. Full CT scan on my heart.”
He continued, detailing his heart block and the urgency of the situation: “Unfortunately my heart rate hasn’t picked up at all in almost a week. Because of this, we don’t have too much time to wait so it looks like I’m going to be in surgery way quicker than the doctors first thought. I may even be home for Christmas! “.
He added: “The last few nights have been really rough, but I wanted to say that I’m absolutely humbled by all your messages of support. Both people I know and those I don’t. It’s given me a much needed boost and my family have been overwhelmed with support, which means more to me than anything.”
In his initial announcement, Max had informed his followers about his health scare, saying: “Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart.”
“I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet. It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support by my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place.”
Maisie and Max started their romance after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing in 2020. Despite Maisie, 23, initially claiming they were just friends, their relationship flourished and they went public in 2022 at an awards ceremony.
The couple, facing queries about their 13-year age difference, appeared on Lorraine in August where host Ranvir Singh probed them about the age gap. They both dismissed concerns, with Maisie stating: “I’ve always said from the start my family and your family – we’re so close. Max has been there for me and my family while we’ve been going through some stuff.”
Max chimed in with: “We’re not bothered about stuff like that.”
