SAN ANTONIO — Emergency crews are on the scene of a Scenic Oaks daycare and preschool, where authorities said at least three people were struck by a car that backed into the playground area.
One adult is dead after the Thursday afternoon incident at the ExcellED Montessori Plus facility, located along the Interstate 10 Frontage Road near Ranchland View, according to Leon Springs Fire Chief Craig Ramon. Officials said a student was among those hurt.
The victims haven’t been identified, and it’s unknown if anyone was detained at the scene.
Authorities first responded to the daycare just before 4 p.m. It primarily services young children and families in the San Antonio and Boerne areas.
“The school administrators and law enforcement are focused at this time on caring for the children, teachers, and families affected by the incident,” a spokesperson said, adding information is limited at this time.
