Utility Warehouse (UW) has been crowned the UK’s top energy supplier for customer service – outperforming all of the ‘big six’ energy suppliers, according to the latest rankings by Citizens Advice. In its best-ever performance, Utility Warehouse claimed the number one spot out of 16 energy suppliers, marking a meteoric rise from 13th place 12 months ago and a close second in the last quarter.
With over one million customers under its belt, the business beat energy heavyweights such as British Gas, EDF, E.ON Next, Octopus, Ovo, and Scottish Power, as well as many smaller rivals. The rankings, based on comprehensive data from suppliers and independent industry bodies from July to September 2024, assess how effectively energy companies handle everything from billing accuracy to customer complaints.
Citizens Advice recommends that people use the ratings to help decide which supplier to use if they are thinking about switching.
Rob Harris, Chief Operating Officer at Utility Warehouse, said: “Resolving customer queries swiftly and effectively is at the heart of what we do, and it’s rewarding to see our dedication making a tangible difference. While we’re pleased to lead these latest rankings, our journey doesn’t stop here.
“We remain laser-focused on delivering an even better experience for our customers and pushing the boundaries further to set new benchmarks for the entire industry.”
Utility Warehouse said its rise up the rankings has been driven by its commitment to exceptional customer service and investment in the latest tools, training and technology. With enhanced digital capabilities and greater use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support customer advisors, the business is “doubling-down on solving customer queries faster and more efficiently” than ever before.
The company’s new WhatsApp channel, has already become its fastest-growing customer service platform having only been launched earlier this year.
While for those facing financial pressures, Utility Warehouse offers a lifeline with flexible payment plans, expert energy-saving advice, and a dedicated hardship fund.
In partnership with Citizens Advice, the fund delivered over £555,000 worth of vital support to customers in the last financial year alone – a lifeline for many during tough times.
