Negotiations over Alexandro Bernabei’s Celtic exit are in full swing according to Internacional as they attempt to make his loan switch a permanent one.

The Argentine was named in the Brazilian Seria A team of the year after an impressive season with the Porto Alegre based outfit. However, they have just ten days to seal a deal for the left back and can’t afford the £7million the Scottish Premiership champions are asking for. And there’s potential spanner in the works in the shape of Palmeiras, with last season’s runners up also keen to try and land Bernabei.

However, Internacional president Alessandro Barcellos remains hopeful a deal can be thrashed out with Brendan Rodgers‘ side before they lose patience or their rivals launch their own attempt. He said: “The deal hasn’t progressed yet, but we are constantly making contact with Celtic. We have to respect the other club’s time and all of this is part of it.

“It’s not an easy negotiation when you factor in the valuation, the player’s package and the interests of the Scottish club. Negotiations are in full swing and we are working towards that.

“Our manager Roger Machado’s collective work has brought a lot of appreciation to the team.”
