Christmas is getting close, and folks are dashing to the shops for some last-minute shopping.

If you’re on a budget, or simply have run out of gift ideas, we’ve got the perfect solution for you, as it will only cost you a fiver and can be adapted to fit anyone – especially book lovers.

Personal finance influencer Demi Jackson-Fortey shared her tips for getting the most of your Christmas gift budget and revealed how to create a personalised reading book bundle for under a fiver. She started by heading to the charity shop where she picked out a book for £2.45 – but if you’re lucky you can find even cheaper ones.

This can be tailored to the recipient’s interests. Whether they’re into romantic fiction or historical non-fiction, there’s a book for everyone.

The second item she added to the gift was a homemade bookmark, which she crafted by cutting a piece of patterned wrapping paper and gluing it to a thin piece of cardboard for added stability. This ended up costing her nothing as she already had all of the supplies needed at home.

The final two items she managed to pick up while doing a food shop. The first thing she did was to head to the sweets aisle where she grabbed a bar of chocolate for £1.25.

And what’s a Christmas reading session without a hot drink? Demi also thought this as she picked up one final item for the gift set – a 35p hot chocolate sachet. She then wrapped everything up together nicely in wrapping paper, making the total amount spent on the present £4.05.

Viewers were enamoured with this budget-friendly gift suggestion, praising it as an ideal solution for those looking to avoid splashing out on expensive presents for family or friends. “I would love this, why don’t we all listen to you and STOP spending so much on gifts,” commented one individual.

The conversation continued as people shared their own ideas for what else could be included in the gift, with another adding: “Other nice things could be fluffy socks, battery operated fairy lights, little scented candle, mug, hand lotion I absolutely adore cosy gifts like those both giving and receiving.”
