British holidaymakers have been given a stark warning by angry locals in Spain. Furious residents have urged tourists to leave their neighbourhoods, threatening to “vomit out” the visitors.
There has been growing resentment towards British tourists from those in the country, with some claiming that the influx of UK visitors is stripping the country of its identity and even its ‘soul’, reports Birmingham Live.
There have been protests across Spain, including Tenerife, the Balearic Islands, and Malaga. And now some disgruntled Spaniards have turned artistic in their complaints about holidaymakers, creating murals and artwork which lay bare their feelings on expats and tourists swarming their country.
One of the pieces states: “We must vomit out tourists“. Another says: “Tourist apartments out!” Artwork has now appeared in Seville, which demands “guiris” – a word used to describe expats who live in the country – “get out” of their neighbourhoods.
AI artist @ranchorocket on Instagram created the mural, which shows a tourist with a wheelie suitcase being kicked by a local and reads: “Guiris out of our neighbourhoods.”
Some social media users were in full support of his posts. One wrote: “This is great, enough of selling the neighborhood to outsiders!”

Another said: “I wish we had a mural like this on every island,” while one simply wrote: “Excellent.” But another user wrote: “We need to find an efficient solution for both sides, the Canary Islands without tourism would lose 60% of employment and the economy would fall.”
Another agreed writing: “Don’t blame tourism because thanks to them the islands are well,” to which a furious local replied: “Shut up foreigner and coloniser, it’s because of people like you the islands are as they are.”
Another suggested: “Let’s not forget the detail that those responsible for this are mostly people from here, who drool over high incomes. It’s time to put the spotlight on those greedy neighbours.”
And new graffitti in the southern region of Andalusia stated: “We must vomit out tourists”, according to the Olive Press.
Spanish locals protesting the influx of Brits are concerned about overcrowding, rising housing costs, and the degradation of their environment due to mass tourism.
They also say some resorts are left almost empty in the winter month when Airbnb and Booking.com flats are not being booked.
