A Hamilton lawyer has been recognised at a prestigious award ceremony run by the Women’s Business Club.
Judith Higson, head of family law at Cadzow Street firm Scullion, was named as runner-up in the category of “employer of women”, honouring organisations which show commitment to creating roles for and supporting women in the workplace.
She also had the honour of being asked to present two prizes at the ceremony and conference, to recipients of the customer excellence and equality, diversity and inclusion categories.
Judith said: “It was a wonderful day in beautiful surroundings with brilliant people – so much knowledge and experience were shared, and it was inspiring to be around other women who were uplifting and empowering each other.”
She was accompanied to the event, held at Edinburgh Royal College of Physicians, by Scullion senior associate directors Anna MacKay and Nicola Buchanan.
The event was attended by nearly 150 delegates from across the country, “all eager to learn and celebrate each other’s achievements”, and at which they heard from speakers including Tamsin Broster, who said: “The energy of the room was electric.
“Women were connecting, collaborating, and celebrating each other. This was an event that every woman in that room will remember for a long time.”
Angela De Souza, the founder and chief executive of Women’s Business Club, said: “There is nothing quite like celebrating the accomplishments of our businesswomen and the calibre of the entries was extremely high, making the judges’ decision really tough.
“Every single woman who entered is a winner – she is still standing, determined to succeed and has hope for the future, a winning attitude indeed.”
