Liam Polworth is hoping it’s a case of deja vu tonight against Motherwell – because that’s where he last found net nearly two full years ago.
The Kilmarnock midfielder bagged his last goal in a 2-2 draw at Fir Park on a Friday night just before Christmas in 2022.
And he hopes that’s a positive omen for him to get on the scoresheet tonight as Killie look to build on their weekend win over Hearts.
He said: “That was the last time I scored, so hopefully I can get another one.
“They’ve had a decent season so far and they’re ahead of us in the league. We’re looking at them as one of the teams to try and claw them back but we just need to take it game by game and hopefully we’ll get there.”
Polworth turned out for the Steelmen for two years before signing for Killie back in 2021 and insists there’s no extra incentive to pick up the points in Lanarkshire.
He said: “It doesn’t really bother me. I enjoyed my first half of the my time there. I’ve got nothing bad about it. I’ve been here for a while so it doesn’t make any difference to me.”
