An Edinburgh bar has launched a new pop-up attraction ahead of Christmas. Earlier this week, Scottish malt whisky cream liqueur brand Magnum unveiled a new “winter wonderland” experience on the rooftop bar of the popular Cold Town House on Edinburgh’s Grassmarket.

Throughout the festive period, the attraction will offer picturesque views of Edinburgh Castle and a “magical setting to raise a glass to the festive season with family and friends”. The Magnum Winter Wonderland features hundreds of Christmas lights, as well as faux fur blankets and cushions, and the pop-up also includes a ski lift photo opportunity.

The mixologists at Cold Town House have also created four Christmas cocktails made using Magnum to “help keep guests warm from the inside out this winter”. The names of the four festive cocktails are Nutcracker, Banana Bread, Peanut Butter Cup, and Madvocaat.

Elsewhere, a Magnum shooter board inspired by Santa’s reindeer is also available. Including Rudolph (Magnum and strawberry liqueur), Dasher (Magnum and banana liqueur), Vixen (Magnum and Kahlua) and Prancer (Magnum and peach liqueur), shots are priced at £3.50 each or £32 for 10.

Magnum Director Lee Schofield commented: “We’re really excited to be working with our friends at Cold Town House to launch Magnum’s new rooftop bar experience in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket this Christmas. Once again, we’ve created a magical winter wonderland for people to celebrate the festive season with family and friends, whilst raising a glass to our truly Scottish brand.

“As well as getting the chance to enjoy Magnum in the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the Magnum Winter Wonderland will help people capture those perfect moments on Instagram or TikTok.”

He added: “2024 has been a phenomenal year for Magnum. We’re now the only scotch malt whisky cream liqueur brand exclusively crafted and bottled at our global production centre right here in Scotland. We’re already gearing up to distribute over 30,000 litres of Magnum across Scotland, the rest of the UK, Canada, the United States and South Africa in time for Christmas.”

The Magnum Winter Wonderland is now open seven days a week on the rooftop bar of Cold Town House. Its opening hours are 11.30am until late.

Magnum is the only cream liqueur exclusively crafted and bottled in Scotland. It is a fusion of single malt Scotch whisky and cream, contained in a stainless steel flask. More information can be found on the Magnum and Cold Town House websites.
