The nation’s largest party supplier has been in business for nearly 40 years and has more than 850 locations nationwide.

AUSTIN, Texas — The party appears to be over as reports say Party City is going out of business and closing all of its locations.

CNN first reported that recently appointed Party City CEO Barry Litwin broke the news to corporate employees on Friday during a video conference call. Litwin said Party City was “winding down” operations and that it was their last day of employment.

However, it’s unclear if stores will close immediately or if there will be going-out-of-business sales. According to CNN’s report, store managers were told all locations would be shut by Feb. 1, 2025.

According to Party City’s website, these are the remaining Austin-area locations:

  • Boardwalk Plaza – Round Rock
    • 2601 South Hwy 35 Suite D
  • Lakeline Plaza – Cedar Park
    • 11066 Pecan Park Boulevard 401
  • Balcones Woods – North Austin
    • 11150 Research Boulevard
  • Capital Plaza – East Austin
    • 5441 N I-35 Space 16
  • Sunset Valley Village – Southwest Austin
    • 5601 Brodie Lane Suite 200
  • Southpark Meadows – South Austin
    • 9600 S I-35 Frontage Road Suite 14

Party City exited Chapter 11 protection in October 2023, but Bloomberg reported earlier this week that it was planning to file for bankruptcy again.

The news of Party City’s demise comes one day after Big Lots announced it would also be closing its locations. But it remains unclear when the nearly 1,000 remaining Big Lots stores are set to close, or if a completed sale could prevent them from closing.

Party City is the country’s largest party supply store. It has more than 850 locations across 45 states and Puerto Rico.
