Scotland’s top food and drink brands of 2024 have been named in a new list. Many Scottish brands are among the most recognisable in the UK and beyond. From soft drinks and beers to biscuits and cakes, people all over the world enjoy Scots products.
Earlier in December, retail sector magazine Scottish Grocer shared its list of the most popular brands in the country. The list was based on research conducted by consumer research company Kantar.
Coming in at number one as the top Scottish brand of the year is Irn-Bru. Known as ‘Scotland’s other national drink’, Irn-Bru has been the highest-selling carbonated drink in Scotland for more than 100 years and was a shoo-in for top spot.
Irn-Bru is a significant aspect of Scotland’s national identity, with a wide variety of products being released throughout the years. The soft drink has featured in many iconic adverts, and even has its own tartan.
Lucy Henderson, marketing director at AG Barr, told Scottish Grocer: “No matter how many years go by, we’re always thrilled to see Irn-Bru retain its number one spot. Scotland is our heartland and it’s truly in our DNA so we are absolutely delighted our brands continue to be held in such high esteem and affection by Scottish consumers and retailers alike.”

According to Scottish Grocer, the number two Scottish brand in 2024 was Graham’s. The Stirlingshire-based dairy company is best known for its milk and butter products, in addition to cheese, yoghurt, and ice cream.
The third most popular Scottish brand in 2024 according to the experts was Simon Howie. Also known as ‘The Scottish Butcher’, it sells bacon, haggis, sausages, and more.
Rounding out the top five most popular Scottish brands of the year are McGhee’s and Bells in fourth and fifth place, respectively. The former is a bakery dating back around 90 years that produces rolls and sweet products, while Bells is among the country’s leading suppliers of pies and pastries.

Scottish Grocer stated: “Throughout 2024, retailers were met with constant changing habits from consumers as inflation saw a gradual decline across the year, resulting in battle between own-label options and branded. As inflation declines, momentum has once again returned to these branded products and helped to bring in a boost for stores.”
