Police are looking for two teenagers following an ‘unprovoked’ attack on a woman in Fife.

The 51-year-old was approached by a group of youths on Postgate in Glenrothes at around 5.55pm on Thursday. Two teenage boys from within the group then assaulted her near the bus station in the town.

Officers from Police Scotland said one of the teenagers is aged 15 to 18, of medium build, and was wearing a black jacket and grey jogging trousers, with a hood and bandana covering his face.

He was also carrying a black rucksack with Nike written in white on the back. The second suspect is aged 13 to 16, of slim build, and he was dressed all in black. The woman did not require medical treatment following the assault.

Sergeant Nicola Crookston said: “This appears to have been an unprovoked attack on a woman by a group of youths in a busy area of the town. We believe there would have been people in the area at the time who may have seen what happened and be able to help with our ongoing inquiries.

“Officers are checking CCTV in the area and carry out regular patrols of the area. Anyone who can help is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 2611 of December 19.”
