WVU Medicine PCH in Princeton, WV held a Lights of Love

PRINCETON W.Va. – As we head into the holiday season, a special event in our community is shining a light on loved ones and offering a meaningful way to give back.

The “Lights of Love” event is a heartwarming tradition where community members purchase colored lights in honor of loved ones who have passed away or to recognize someone special during the holiday season.

Each light placed on the tree serves as a tribute, offering a moment of reflection for the loved ones and support for Princeton Community Hospital.

The donations raised benefit the hospital’s cancer care program, which helps patients with travel to treatments, nutritional supplements, home equipment, and medication co-pays—providing vital assistance during their recovery.

Since its start in 2015, the program has supported over 13,000 patients and distributed more than $130,000 in aid.

We spoke with the President and CEO of WVU medicine PCH, Karen Bowling and she explains it’s not just about the giving but also the connections made in the process.

She says, “We do have a lot of people who come to this event every year, and it’s really interesting because you see people actually talking to each other that have come to the event year after year and getting to sort of spend some time with people that have the same feelings you do about caring about their family members or loved ones. People that they’ve cared about, over time.”

To participate for next year’s “Lights of Love” event, simply watch for invitations sent out each year from late November to early December.
