Police asked the public to help identify the “Grinch” thief.

FORT COLLINS, Colo — It’s a Christmas miracle! Baby Jesus has returned.

Well, he’s returned to the Old Town Square Nativity scene in Fort Collins.

The Baby Jesus figurine that was reported stolen on Sunday was anonymously dropped off at Poudre Fire Authority Station #1 in Fort Collins on Thursday, along with an apology note, according to a post on the Fort Collins Police Service Facebook page. 

Fort Collins Police had asked the public to help them identify the “Grinch” who tried to ruin Christmas by swiping the statuette just two days ago.

The thief scrawled an apology note that was tucked into the manger, saying: “I am really sorry, I made a dumb mistake In [sic] the moment. It wont [sic] happen again”

The thief apologized for stealing the statuette, which was returned four days after being reported missing.

Fort Collins Police said that aside from the note, they have no further information about the person who stole Baby Jesus.
