Winger Stuart McKinstry is targeting his first 90 minutes for nine months when Hamilton Accies aim to upset Championship leaders Falkirk today.
The former Motherwell man has been on the comeback trail after being released by Queen’s Park in the summer and joined Accies on a short-term deal at the end of October.
He made his first start for the club in last Saturday’s 2-1 win over former club Spiders, before being substituted after 81 minutes.
And hopes to play a major role in upsetting the Bairns, as he targets a 90-minute outing for the first time since April.
He said:”It’s been a while since I got a lot of minutes, but that was my first league start, which I am proud of.
“Against my former club last week, it was always going to be a bit of a weird one but we got a good result and I felt I did well in the first half. I feel like I’m getting there in terms of fitness.
“Last week was the longest I’ve played in about 9 months, so it has been a long time coming for me.
“But I feel like I’ve put a lot of work in over the last few months to allow myself the chance to last longer in games.
“Now I’m hoping to do it now and maybe this week I can get my first 90 minutes in a long time.
“Falkirk will be a hard game, going to their place when they are obviously top of the league.
“But we probably couldn’t be going there with any more confidence than we have right now, after a really good performance against Queen’s Park. We’ll look at that to try and find a similar performance.”
McKinstry believes Accies have good strength in depth now and that could cause John McGlynn’s men problems.
He added: “I think when you look at our squad overall, you can see that we have quality players that can hurt teams- and we saw that with Stevie Bradley’s goals last week.
“We have got options now as well. Players on the bench are players who could start every week, so I think when you look at the depth we have, it is very good.
“We have a group of boys who stick together and go to the very end for each other.”
