Cops are hunting a Scots robber who was wearing surgical gloves after a terrifying incident at a shop.

The robbery took place at a premises on Main Road in Condorrat, Cumbernauld when at around 8.25pm on December 18, a man entered the premises and threatened a staff member, forced them to open the cash register and fled with a sum of money, heading towards Condorrat Ring Road.

Officers raced to the scene and searched the area but a probe remains ongoing to identify and trace the suspect.

The man is described as white, of heavy build, and was wearing a black jacket, with a green or grey hoodie underneath, with the hood up. He also wore a black face covering, blue surgical gloves, black trousers and white trainers. He spoke with a Scottish accent.

Detective Constable Scott Archer, of Coatbridge CID said: “Fortunately no-one was injured as a result of this incident, but it was an incredibly frightening experience for the staff member involved. Our enquiries are ongoing, and we urge anyone who may have seen a man matching this description or noticed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward.

“I would also ask anyone with private CCTV, doorbell or dashcam to review their footage and share anything that may assist our investigation. If you think you can help, please contact police on 101, quoting incident number 3497 of 18 December, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
