A pensioner was treated in hospital for injuries following a serious assault in Dumbarton.

The incident happened around 7.40pm on Friday on Bankend Road at the junction with Townhead Road. Police are looking for a teenage suspect and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Detective Constable Iain McGill said the 69-year-old male victim was taken to hospital after the attack.

He added: “The suspect is described as being a white male, aged around 15 to 16-years-old, of slim build, with dark, curly hair. He was wearing a red top and dark shorts.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us.

“We also ask anyone driving in the area at the time who may have dash-cam footage to come forward.”
