Raymond van Barneveld suffered yet another walk-on tune malfunction at the Ally Pally.
The five-times champion of the world has been greeted to the stage for two decades by the Eye of the Tiger. However, halfway down the walkway before his match with Nick Kenny, the music suddenly stopped. As the crowd stood bewildered, some other tune suddenly came over the PA system. It was even late in starting as things went awry.
Barney has not had the best of luck this week when it has come to the Survivor classic. There was a bizarre controversy a couple of days ago when debutant Romeo Grvabac was accused of robbing the walk-on song. The Dutchman raised a social-media eyebrow when it happened prompting a swift apology from the Croat, who thought he’d be entering to Eurovision hit Rim Tim Tagi Dim by Baby Lasagna. But issues meant that couldn’t be played and Eye of the Tiger belted out.
Grbavac messaged the champ and said: “Hello Barney, this song wasn’t my choice and I don’t know why they played.” Barney saw the funny side and posted an update which read: “Ok all is forgiven pal.” with a laughing emoji and thumbs up.
