It helps to transform the lives of players by giving them integral skills which are transferable to everyday life.

Edinburgh Live reports that Rachel Caulfield, who works for Malones Leith, has called on their community to rally together to support the cause.

She said: “We’re just really appealing to locals to get involved and help out in any way they can.

“We’re set up as a donation centre for new and old sportswear or kit as well as toiletries or chocolates for the players.

“Street Soccer Scotland are a Leith based football charity who aim to create purpose, hope and relationships by using football to support people on their journey to security and happiness. Their mission is to use football inspired training and personal development as a medium to empower people who are affected by social exclusion.

“They are built on lived experiences – with many of their experienced staff having faced the same issues and challenges as their players. They understand what it’s like to feel alone, and the huge difference that being part of a team can make to their lives.

“Any support would be greatly appreciated.”

Malones are collecting shirts, shorts, boots, balls, and other kit for socially disadvantaged adults and young people across Scotland whether they are brand new or used.

Donations and gifts can be dropped off at Malones Leith which is situated at 48-52 Constitution Street.
