Scotland defender Jack Hendry has been handed a reprieve by Steven Gerrard after he was included in the league roster again.
The former Celtic stopper has played just two games since the Euros – both in the Asian Champions League for Al-Ettifaq. Gerrard didn’t include him in the foreign player roster for the Saudi League originally this season and Hendry was therefore not registered to play for the club.
However, former Rangers boss Gerrard has had a change of heart and has opted to put Hendry back in the squad for the second half of the season in place of Brazilian midfielder Vitinho. It means the 29-year-old will be able to resume his career in the lucrative league after joining last year from Club Brugge.
Hendry has won 34 caps for Scotland and reclaimed his place in the last squad and was on the bench for the 2-1 win in Poland in the Nations League.
