Ange Postecoglou admitted he didn’t have the answers one reporter was looking for when grilled over Tottenham‘s ‘Plan B.’

And then he lost his patience at his press conference – telling the media he’s sick of answering ‘the same questions over and over again.’ The former Celtic boss watched his Tottenham team play out a characteristically chaotic battle with Liverpool that saw them briefly threaten a comeback from 5-1 down, before a late Luis Diaz goal settled one of the games of the season.

Spurs landed a few blows on the runaway Premier League leaders, but 18 months on, the same defensive frailties that have so often hampered his team came to roost again with the Anfield giants hitting them for six. It’s been a Jekyll and Hyde season for them, thumping Man City 4-0 but struggling to deliver that sort of form inconsistently.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Postecoglou was asked if the defeat was ‘fuel for those who say you need to tweak it or have a plan B.’ And the speechless boss responded: “I don’t know how to answer that question. I think I’ve explained clearly what I thought happened today. I don’t know what Plan Bs or Plan Cs are. I don’t know how to answer that.”

He then went into his wider broadcast press conference and was asked a similar question, which got a spiky response from a visibly frustrated Postecoglou. He said: “I think I’ve been really patient here for the last 18 months, sitting up here answering the same questions over and over again. If people want me to change my approach, it’s not going to change. We’re doing it for a reason, because we think it’s going to help us be successful. If people don’t understand that, the challenges that we have, which are as obvious as they could be, then whatever.

“I get the idea that people think I should just flick the switch and change and somehow that would miraculously make us a different team. It is what it is. I’m just going to continue staying focused on building this team. In the interim, we’re going to have to accept that there are going to be challenges along the way.”
