An investigation has been launched after an assault and attempted robbery on a Scots street. The incident took place in Hamilton on Friday evening.

A 43-year-old was approached by a man who demanded the keys to his vehicle before assaulting him, in the South Lanarkshire town’s Hillhouse Road..

The victim did not need medical treatment after the incident, which happened at around 5.30pm on December 20, 2024. The incident was reported to police and officers are now investigating.

Police Scotland detectives are appealing for information, describing the suspect as being around 5ft 11in tall and of slim build, white, and was wearing a white and blue scarf and a black tracksuit at the time.

Detective Constable Debbie Walker said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact us. We also ask anyone driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage to come forward.”
