Helen Worth, known for her role as Gail Platt in Coronation Street for an incredible five decades, is preparing to say goodbye to the cobbles and start a peaceful life in France with her new husband.

Gail, still head over heels in love, is set to find her fairy-tale ending this Christmas Day on the ITV soap as she gets ready to walk down the aisle again, this time with former child entertainer Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson).

However, family tensions are expected to rise due to their disapproval of her wedding. It’s hinted that Gail’s son, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), will become obsessed with ruining her wedding to Jesse.

But will the Platt family let Gail get married, or will she leave Weatherfield alone? As dedicated Corrie fans will remember, this isn’t Gail’s first time walking down the aisle; her upcoming marriage to Jesse will be her sixth reports the Mirror.

In 1974, a young Gail Potter arrived in Weatherfield, and five years later, she married Brian Tilsey (Christopher Quinten), with their son Nick arriving shortly after.

Gail later gave birth to their daughter Sarah Louise (Tina O’Brien). Unfortunately, Gail and Brian’s marital happiness was short-lived, as they separated just before their 10th anniversary in 1988.

Over the years, the couple often argued over money. When their relationship turned sour, Gail had an affair with her husband’s cousin Ian Latimer (Michael Loney), which led to their divorce.

In a surprising twist, Gail and Brian remarried following the birth of Sarah. Sarah’s paternity was initially uncertain until a blood test confirmed Brian as her biological father, though some family members remained sceptical.

Tragically, in 1989, Brian was fatally stabbed outside a nightclub while defending a woman from a gang of thugs. A year later, the mourning widow Gail wed her second husband Martin Platt (portrayed by Sean Wilson). Their marriage lasted from 1990 to 2000, ending due to Martin’s affair with Rebecca Hopkins (Jill Halfpenny).

Perhaps the most memorable of Gail’s husbands was her third, Richard Hillman (Brian Capron). They tied the knot in 2002, but within a year, Richard confessed to murdering his ex-wife and their neighbour Maxine Peacock (Tracy Shaw).

In 2010, Gail married kitchen fitter Joe McIntyre (Reece Dinsdale). Unfortunately, he was burdened with debt and tried to stage his own death, resulting in Gail being arrested for murder.

She was eventually cleared when it was revealed that he was alive, but Joe later took his own life. In 2015, Gail seemed to have found her happily ever after with Michael Rodwell (Les Dennis), but this too ended in disaster.

Their marriage only lasted a year before he tragically died of a heart attack, caused by the actions of serial killer Pat Phelan (Connor McIntyre). Will Gail finally find her happy ending with Jesse?
