ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – A house fire displaced 14 people, including 10 children, Saturday, December 21, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS.

Roanoke Fire-EMS responded at 9:02 p.m. to the area of 22nd Street SW and Lynn Ave SW. An exact house number and street could not be confirmed by callers, according to Roanoke Fire-EMS. Roanoke Police Department assisted with locating the house, according to firefighters.

The residence was engulfed with heavy smoke and flames, upgrading the incident to a working fire, according to firefighters.

Firefighters say they were able to contain the flames within 45 minutes with no injuries reported.

The cause and damage estimates are undetermined.

Firefighters say the displaced residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
