Emergency services have rushed to a Scots airport after an aircraft crashed shortly after take-off.
Crews, including a HM Coastguard helicopter raced to the incident at Glenrothes Airport in Fife after receiving the alarm at 11.38am. Two fire engines and a Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) rescue unit have been drafted to the scene.
Images from the scene show firefighters on a hill in the area. It is currently unknown if there are any injuries.
A SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 11.38am on Monday, 23 December, to an incident involving a light aircraft near Kinglassie, Fife. Operations Control mobilised two appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene to assist emergency services partners.
“Crews remain in attendance.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services are in attendance near Fife Airport after a light aircraft crashed at 11.40am on Monday, 23 December, 2024. Enquiries are ongoing.”
The Record has approached the Scottish Ambulance Service and HM Coastguard for comment.
