According to an expert, Prince Harry is said to have become visibly upset when Meghan Markle mimicked her first curtsy to the late Queen Elizabeth.
In the explosive Netflix documentary Harry and Meghan, the couple shared their experiences as members of the royal family, including Meghan’s first meeting with Her Majesty.
The key moment took place during a lunch meeting at the Royal Lodge in Windsor with Princess Eugenie, reports Cornwall Live.
Reflecting on the protocol lesson for Meghan, Harry said: “How do you explain that to people? How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother? And that you will need to curtsy. Especially to an American. That’s weird.”
In her recollection, Meghan argued: “It’s surreal. It wasn’t like some big moment of like, ‘Now you’re going to meet my grandmother, I didn’t know I was going to meet her until moments before.”
She went on recalling their journey to the estate: “And I remember we were in the car and we were driving up and he’s like ‘You know how to curtsy right? ‘ And I just thought it was a joke.”
Meghan then mimicked an elaborate curtsy, playfully saying, “Pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty,” as the camera panned to Harry.
Body language expert Jesus Enrique Rosas analysed Harry’s seemingly flustered reaction in the documentary on his YouTube channel.
The body language expert said: “The first part of Harry’s reaction tells me that he knew what was coming. He is serious even if Meghan is speaking quickly, joyfully but there’s no connection, no empathy in him. He is serious and maybe even angry, notice what happens with his throat, he is swallowing at that moment.”
The expert also noted the clear signs of disdain from Prince Harry towards Meghan’s actions, stating, “He is looking at Meghan and he displays contempt. A split second after that, he looks away and presses his jaw.”
“He is looking at Meghan and he displays contempt. A split second after that, he looks away and presses his jaw,” the expert added, pointing out Harry’s change in facial colour.
“You can see the patches of red on his face are much redder the cheeks, the bridge of the nose, the temples it could be that he feels ashamed or angry.”

The expert continued: “I’m going to tell you why this is covert anger and not [Harry being] ashamed. If he was ashamed, he would have smiled a bit more, or [had] a nervous laughter.
“But he knew what was coming and he couldn’t stand it – that he had that face at the beginning and had that subtle swallow right before Meghan did the curtsy.”
