Cocaine with a street value of £48,000 has been seized by cops in Lanarkshire.
Warrants were executed at a number of addresses in Cleland and Wishaw on Friday, December 20 in relation to an ongoing investigation into serious and organised crime.
As a result, a quantity of cocaine with an approximate street value of £48,000 was recovered along with over £1,000 in cash.
A 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery.
They were due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court yesterday (Monday, December 23). A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
Detective Sergeant Vicky Shanley at Lanarkshire Division Serious and Organised Crime, Acquisitive and Interventions said: “We are determined to protect the public from harmful criminality by disrupting sale of illegal substances and preventing them from being circulated on the streets of our community.
“Information from the public is crucial to our work and we encourage anyone with information or concerns about drug-related activity in their area to contact Police Scotland on 101. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
