HOUSTON — It was definitely a “Cowboy Carter” Christmas at NRG Stadium Wednesday as H-Town native Beyoncé took the field during halftime of the Texans-Ravens game.
Although the Texans lost, fans were still able to witness an epic performance from Queen Bey herself.
Game attendees were given “Beyoncé Bowl” branded light-up bracelets upon entering the stadium, indicating the singer was going to put on a spectacular show for her hometown.
This 13-minute-long performance was the live debut of several “Cowboy Carter” tracks. The album was released back in March and leads in nominations for the 2025 Grammy Awards with 11 nominations.
Beyoncé was introduced on a white horse rocking an all-white western aesthetic singing “16 Carriages” while making her way through the field of NRG.
She followed up with a soulful version of “Blackbiird” alongside the four co-singers of the track, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy and Reyna Roberts.
Beyoncé was joined by nearly 200 members of Texas Southern University’s Ocean of Soul Marching Band.
And finally, on the field, Beyoncé, along with the marching band and dancers, performed “Ya Ya” and “My House.”
Then comes a mashup of “Riiverdance,” “Spaghettii,” and “Sweet, Honey, Buckiin,” featuring singer Shaboozey.
As the tempo slowed down, Beyoncé, now in a white jacket and jeans, appeared in front of a pickup truck to sing, of course, “Levii’s Jeans.” Collaborator and Texas native Post Malone joined in on the performance. It was their first time performing the song together.
Nearing the end of the show, Beyoncé performed one of the standout songs from the album, her cover of “Jolene,” while making her way down the field in a convertible.
And of course, it wouldn’t be a “Cowboy Carter” Christmas without hearing “Texas Hold ‘Em” live. While performing the No. 1 hit, Beyoncé danced alongside her daughter, Blue Ivy.
The performance concluded with Beyoncé soaring high above the field on a platform as a banner unraveled with the word “BANG.”
Immediately after the performance, Beyonce teased an announcement for Jan. 14, 2025.
