A Boxing Day crash has hospitalised a woman in a quiet Scots village.

This morning at 6.10am, blue-light workers rushed to the A77 in Lochans, near to Stranraer, after receiving a report of the smash. A female pedestrian was raced to hospital and her condition is currently unknown. It is also not known is the driver of the vehicle was injured.

Officers closed the A77 between Stranraer and Portpatrick and placed local diversions for several hours, while asking the public to avoid the area. The road reopened later this afternoon.

A Police Scotland spokesperson: “The A77 is closed at Lochans following a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that happened around 6.10am on Thursday, 26 December.

“Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a woman, was taken to hospital. A local diversion is in place and road users are advised to avoid the area.”
