Christmas is a time when our favourite stores adjust their opening hours and days. However, some will be keen to take advantage of post-Christmas sale prices as soon as midnight on December 26.

However, not all shops will be in a hurry to open their doors. Several big brands will allow their staff to take a well-deserved break after every December shopping frenzy as people gear up for the festive season.

Here, we’ve compiled information on some of the more popular shops Brits love to frequent. Some will have their doors locked today whilst others are very much open for business, reports the Mirror.

Home Bargains

All Home Bargains stores in the UK will be closed on Boxing Day. The discount store announced earlier this year that there would be a three-day closure over the festive period – including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Bosses made the decision to close shops across the country “so that employees can spend the festive season with their loved ones.” Many fans of the shop understood and even applauded the generous move.

A spokesperson for Home Bargains commented: “We know how hard all our colleagues have worked throughout the year. Being a family-run business, we recognise the importance of spending quality time with our loved ones. Therefore, we feel it is only right to support our valued store teams by giving them extended time off around Christmas and New Year.”

All Home Bargains stores across the UK will shut their doors at 5pm on Christmas Eve, allowing shoppers back during Christmas week from December 27 until 31, with normal shopping hours resuming on January 2.

Primark

The clothing store Primark will be open on Boxing Day – but with reduced hours. Most seem to follow the later opening time of 10.30am with closing around 5pm.

Primark operates almost 200 stores across the UK but the open hours vary between locations. You can find the full details for local store opening hours here.

The Range

The Range gave customers a heads-up via social media earlier in the year that it would be shutting shop on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. However, it assured that online shopping was still an option at therange.co.uk.

The Facebook post stated: “Our stores will be closed this Christmas Day and Boxing Day to give our hard-working team members a well-earned break over the festive season. You can still shop online at therange.co.uk.”

Normal business hours are expected to resume from Friday, December 27.

B&M

B&M’s own website reveals that its stores expect to welcome customers on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, with the closure on Christmas Day being the exception. Post-Christmas, store hours adjust from closing at 11pm to 10pm starting December 27.

For specific opening times, checking your local store online is recommended; nevertheless, most seem set to operate from 8am to 6pm on Boxing Day, with similar timings planned for both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
