There has been travel chaos for Boxing Day travellers on one of Scotrail’s busiest rail lines today as services were axed.
There has been disruption for those travelling via the major Glasgow to Edinburgh route with many services having been cancelled.
The rail operator says this has been down to a safety inspection on the tracks at Croy. The services impacted include those running between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh, as well as those traveling north from Glasgow via Stirling and those looking to travel to Alloa from Glasgow.
Scotrail warned travellers via social media, they said: “NEW: Due to a safety inspection of the track at Croy all lines are closed. Train services between Glasgow Queen Street and Alloa, Stirling and Edinburgh may be cancelled, delayed or revised.”
“Some services may be diverted via Cumbernauld which allows services to avoid the issue.”
However, the issue has now been solved, with Scotrail issuing the following update: “Following a safety inspection of the track earlier today, all lines have now reopened. We’re working to get crew and units back into position now.”
