WASHINGTON — The first teaser trailer for “Happy Gilmore 2” was released on Christmas Day shortly before kickoff of the NFL’s big debut on Netflix.
Adam Sandler is back as Happy Gilmore for the sports comedy that hits the streaming service in 2025.
Travis Kelce also was featured in the teaser trailer filled with cameos by other celebrities, including Bad Bunny and Kid Cudi.
The clip features Kelce, who appears to perhaps be playing a golf clubhouse staffer, remarking “It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore.”
The brief teaser trailer shows Sandler back in his iconic role alongside original movie stars Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin and Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit. There’s even a face-off shown between Gilmore and McGavin at a cemetery.

Bowen recently recounted how the film incorporates flashback scenes for the sequel, where characters have been digitally de-aged. She explained to Collider that for those scenes she was required to wear her original clothing and hair from the original “Happy Gilmore” movie.
When is Happy Gilmore 2 coming to Netflix?
All we know for sure is that “Happy Gilmore 2” is scheduled for release sometime in 2025. During an appearance earlier this month on “The Dan Patrick Show,” Sandler teased that they’re hoping for it to be released in July 2025.
Sandler also confirmed there’s cameos involving rapper Eminem, as well as Jack Nicklaus and other golf greats – but declined to go into further detail.
“Happy Chanukah!, Merry Christmas!, Happy Holidays!, And Happy Gilmore to all!!!!!!,” Sandler captioned his Instagram post celebrating the trailer’s release.
